Potter was born in Los Angeles, CA on January 26, 1958. Her favorite activity as a child was surfing and riding the waves. Occassionally, her and her husband return to the coast and she revisits her surfer-girl skills. Potter attended Oregon University where she majored in environmental science. Upon graduation, she began a career as a lobbyist where she constantly campiagned for stricter environmental laws. Her work led to several strict environmental standards being adopted in Washington. In 1995, she joined the Green Party and began work in the Seattle area for the party, where she ran several campaigns for office and was elected in 2002 to the House of Representatives. She was recently married to Graham Potter, a wetland botonist, who also graduated from Oregon University. They were recently married and reside in Seattle, Washington. They do not have children but have two chocolate labs, Monty and Barty, that they treat as their own flesh and blood.
Representative Potter's 1st Speech
Hello dear, dear friends. My name is Representative Lily Potter and I am your 2016 Green Party presidential candidate. I am a representative for the state of Washington, but began my political career as a lobbyist, campaigning for more laws that benefit the environment because this good green earth that we all call home deserves more respect than we give it.
This being said, I enjoy spending the majority of my time outside, surrounded by nature. In my free time I enjoy surfing, wrestling gorillas, trekking through the Amazon, as well as collecting Star Trek action figures.
This is my running mate, Petunia Dursley *motion to Halle*. We are positive that we are the strongest candidates for president and vice president because we will direct the United States back towards the path which it was originally intended to traverse. The Green Party is but a glimpse of the ideal future for America. We have real solutions to real problems.
As president I vow that I will spend as much of my time in office as possible devoted to election reform, finding alternative energy sources, and the legalization of marijuana and other non-violent crimes.
The first thing I will see to is the abolishment of the Electoral College. Since the Electoral College hampers the individual’s voice from being heard, I will put a system in place that allows for direct national election of the president.
The second focal point of my campaign is to make hemp a clean and efficient alternative fuel substitute. Hemp is a cheap alternative to gas, oil, and other fuels that harm the environment. It is all natural and can be converted into methane and gasoline at a fraction of the cost of our current forms of energy.
Our last focus is one that *pause* is very close and personal to me *another pause* and that would be the legalization and taxation of marijuana. As a whole this would not only provide more money for the federal government, but would also cut down on the amount of money spent on putting otherwise innocent people in jail for the nonviolent crime of possession of marijuana.
As your president I will strive for a greener, cleaner, leaner United States. And feel free to follow me on Twitter @Lily_PotterPrez. Thank you.
